Couple Indicted In Elder Abuse

A Harnett County couple was indicted Monday on elder abuse charges in the case of a 78-year-old Lillington woman. Linda Arab Kaneklides died on Nov. 15, 2005, four days after her son and daughter-in-law were charged by authorities with abusing her. George and Ann Kaneklides, formerly of Lillington, were each indicted on one count of abuse of a disabled or neglected adult in the case. While a family member of the victim said they are not pleased with the state's handling of the case, District Attorney Tom Lock said the medical evidence did not support a homicide verdict.
